RAMONAS
Después del turno de algunas bandas soporte se apagan las luces. El recinto queda en completa oscuridad.
Comienzan a sonar los primeros acordes de The Good, the Bad and the Ugly , esa cortina musical característica que eligieron hace ya muchísimo tiempo como introducción a sus presentaciones. Anticipa lo que viene, que no es la frutilla del postre; es la entrada, la comida y la sobremesa. Esa melodía creada para el film del gran Clint Eastwood es casi hipnótica. Y es también, en este caso, la calma que antecede al huracán...
De pronto se corta, abruptamente. No por el silencio sino por la irrupción de intensos acordes que parecen escupidos por una guitarra que suena a sierra eléctrica. Así comienza otro show inolvidable que se extenderá por más de una hora y media, a un ritmo frenético, casi sin respiro (porque entre tema y tema hay solo unos segundos de distancia, el que dura el "1,2,3,4" que marca CJ y marcó antes Dee Dee). Un show más de los miles que dieron durante 22 años ininterrumpidos de carrera.
Pero un día se fueron.
Y a partir de allí nadie logró ocupar su lugar (ni lo hará), pero por fortuna surgieron otras bandas que supieron recoger su legado y con su trabajo han colaborado a mantener viva esa llama.
Hoy les presentamos a cuatro chicas británicas que quizás son de los máximos exponentes de esa generación de herederos. Cuatro chicas que, si uno cierra los ojos al escucharlas, seguramente invitarán a pensar que así hubiesen sonado los padres del punk si hubiesen sido mujeres. Por eso son Las Ramonas.
Cuenta la historia que esta banda se formó en 2004, por un amigo en común de las chicas. Lisa y Vicky, cantante y bajista respectivamente, se unieron en 2008. Y unos años más tarde Max y Cam, en guitarra y batería. Fueron únicamente una banda tributo (una muy buena, por cierto) hasta 2016, cuando comenzaron a crear sus propias canciones. Siempre manteniéndose fieles a la estructura musical característica de los padres del punk, pero ya agregando su impronta. En aquellas primeras épocas tocaban mucho en pubs y pequeños locales de Brighton y Londres, ya que la mayoría vivía en la zona.
Max manifiesta que lo más parecido a ese primer hogar que para Los Ramones fue el mítico CBGB para ellas pudo representarlo el The 100 Club' (https://www.the100club.co.uk/), pero nunca tuvieron una "meca" similar al establecimiento newyorkino que vio nacer a Joey, a Johnny, a Tommy y a Dee Dee. Aunque esa misma vibra siempre estaba en el aire en esos sitios donde se presentaban (tal vez gracias a la contribución de ellas mismas).
En su haber hasta 2021 cuentan con 3 álbumes: en 2017 debutaron con "First World Problems", luego llegó "Acoustic Problems" y finalmente otro de estudio que dieron en llamar "I Want To Live In Outer Space".
También hubo innumerables giras por Reino Unido, Europa y Estados Unidos. Pero todas coinciden en que su materia pendiente es venir a Sudamérica y conocer estas tierras para experimentar en carne propia esa adrenalina que transmitía el público local con cada presentación ramonera.
Si se les consulta por el cover favorito o por la mejor canción de su propio repertorio hay opiniones encontradas en relación al primer grupo pero coincidencia respecto a lo demás.
Lisa manifiesta que le gusta tocar todo por igual por diferentes razones; que las canciones de Ramones todo el mundo las conoce y son muy divertidas, pero que gracias a las suyas tienen su propia voz sobre lo que quieren expresar sobre el mundo. Cam por su parte piensa que Rocket to Russia es su álbum favorito, aunque se reconoce incapaz de poder elegir una canción como la mejor.
Y si se les pregunta sobre el significado de Ramones para ellas, naturalmente continúan las coincidencias.
Lisa- "Son una gran parte de mi vida y lo han sido durante mucho tiempo".
Vicky- "Amo a los Ramones, Dee Dee es un genio, nunca me aburriré de su música".
Max- "Popularizaron masivamente la progresión de acordes 1,4,5, que todavía es el elemento básico de mucha música popular Muchas bandas y músicos tienen que agradecer a los Ramones por su sonido".
Cam - "Creo que son la representación de la composición de canciones en su forma más pura. Demostraron que con solo ser tú mismo, puedes convertir tu trabajo en algo de éxito. Es inspirador cuando hay tanta falsedad en la industria de la música".
Durante sus años de carrera tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a dos miembros muy importantes de la banda que honran: Richie y CJ. Con ellos no solo cruzaron palabras; han compartido escenarios. Sobre Richie, Vicky recuerda que incluso el músico les prestó su equipo para un show en Los Ángeles. Y que ser la banda soporte de CJ también fue algo increíble, ya que aprovecharon la ocasión para presentar su música original, coincidiendo con el lanzamiento de su álbum First World Problems.
En Argentina saben que Ramones tuvo una segunda casa y que la recepción aquí fue como ninguna de cualquier parte del mundo. Por eso remarcan su anhelo por venir y no dudan en que es un sueño que algún día se hará realidad. Mientras tanto, aguardamos ansiosos...

The first chords of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly begin to sound, that characteristic musical curtain that they chose a long time ago as an introduction to their presentations. It anticipates what is coming, which is not the icing on the cake; it is the entrance, the food and the dessert. That melody created for the film of the great Clint Eastwood is almost hypnotic. And it is also, in this case, the calm that precedes the hurricane ...
Suddenly it cuts out, abruptly. Not because of the silence but because of the irruption of intense chords that seem to be spit out by a guitar that sounds like an chain saw. So it begins another unforgettable show that will last for more than an hour and a half, at a frantic pace, almost without stops (because between song and song there are only a few seconds of distance, the one that lasts the "1,2,3,4" which marks CJ and formerly Dee Dee). One more show of the thousands that they gave during 22 uninterrupted years of career.
But one day they left.
And from there nobody managed to take his place (nor will do it never), but fortunately other bands emerged that knew how to pick their legacy and with their work they have done the work to keep that flame alive.
Today we present to you four british girls who are perhaps the greatest exponents of that generation of heirs. Four girls who, if you close your eyes when listening to them, will surely invite you to think that this is how the fathers of punk would have sounded if they had been women. That is why they are The Ramonas.
The story goes that this band was born in 2004 by a mutual friend. Lisa and Vicky, singer and bass player respectively, joined in 2008. And a few years later Max and Cam did the same, on guitar and drums. They were only a tribute band (and a very good one, by the way) until 2016, when they started to create their own songs. Always staying true to the characteristic musical structure of the fathers of punk, but already adding their imprint. In those early days they played a lot in pubs and small venues in Brighton and London, as most of them lived in the area. Max states that the closest thing to that first home that for Ramones was the mythical CBGB, for them could be represented by The 100 Club (https://www.the100club.co.uk/), but the true thing is they never had a "mecca" similar to the newyorker establishment who witnessed Joey´s, Johnny´s, Tommy´s and Dee Dee´s first steps. Although that same vibe was always in the air in those places where the girls performed (perhaps thanks to their own contribution).
Until 2021 they have 3 albums of their own: in 2017 the first one, "First World Problems", then came "Acoustic Problems" and finally another studio album called "I Want To Live In Outer Space".
There were also plenty tours around United Kingdom, Europe and even in the United States. But they all agree that their pending issue is to come to South America and get to know these lands to experience firsthand that adrenaline that the local ones transmitted with each ramone presentation. If we ask them about their favorite cover or the best song of their own repertoire, there are different opinions about the first group, but coincidences in relation to the rest. Lisa says that she likes to play everything equally for different reasons; that everyone knows Ramones songs are fun to play, but thanks to their own songs they have their voice about what they want to say about the world. At other hand, Cam thinks that Rocket to Russia is her favorite album, but she admits that she is unable to choose only a song as the best one. And if we asked about what Ramones means to them, naturally the coincidences continue.
Lisa- "They are a huge part of my life and have been for a very long time, so they mean a lot".
Vicky - "I love the Ramones, Dee Dee is a genius, I will never get bored of their music".
Max- "They massively popularised the 1,4,5 chord progression, which is still now the staple of a LOT of popular music, so a lot of bands and musicians have the Ramones to thank for their sound".
Cam - "I think they are the embodiment of songwriting in its purest form, and that by just being yourself, it can be a testament to huge success. It's inspirational when there is so much falseness in the music industry".
During their career years they had the opportunity to meet two very important members of the band they honor: Richie and CJ. They not only have a few words with them; they have shared shows and backstages. About Richie, Vicky remembers that he even leant them his equipment when they played a show in Los Angeles. And that supporting CJ's was also an amazing moment, as they played a set of their original music for the release of the album "First World Problems".
In Argentina they know that Ramones had a second home and that the reception here was like no other in any part of the world. That is why they emphasize their desire to come and have no doubt about it is a dream that one day will come true. Meanwhile, we anxiously continue waiting for the girls...
